MEDICAL: NEWS:
A Barbara Acello List of Medical and Legal Medical News Articles

Barbara Acello for as long as I can remember has been sending excellent
lists of news articles to various discussion groups in her field and I
have been seeing them on the Litigated Disabilities Discussion Group.

A shorter URL for the above link:

The first catch is that one must be a member of this group to read these
posts. The second catch is called catch up as this is what the good site
search engine found.

Matched Messages 1 - 10 of 419

The third catch is that Barbara in a private post informed me that the
life span of these articles full text is from a week to a year in many
cases so that much is not available on the web free now.

The remedies are out there and those with public library borrowers cards
may have access to one or more full text databases of newspaper and trade
journal content either at the library or at remote such as home computers
via their borrower card number and pin. Those at academic institutions
will probably have access to even more such databases including databases
such as:

Lexis-Nexis
EBSCO Newspapers
Access News from Newsbank
Factiva
ABI/Inform Complete
Wilson OMNI
CINAHL
Academic Search Premier
Periodical Abstracts
Google Scholar
Google News
Google News Archive [Many articles here are fee based]

Also try a search of the article title in quotation marks in Google,
Google News, Google New Archive and Yahoo and Yahoo News.

Sexual abuse claim leveled against South Texas facility
SAN ANTONIO — The state is investigating more charges of wrongdoing
against children in custody — this time at a federal South Texas facility
for unaccompanied immigrant youths. A sexual abuse allegation at the Texas
Sheltered Care facility in Nixon, 60 miles southeast of here, led to the
firing of one unidentified staff member and prompted the relocation of its
72 residents earlier this month, officials said Friday.

Pet owners want answers in rat poison-tainted food
No clues as to how it entered the recalled supply
ALBANY, N.Y. — Aminopterin has been used to induce abortions, treat cancer
and kill rats. What it was doing in pet food is what owners of a rising
number of sick or dead animals are demanding to know. The drug was
identified Friday as the likely culprit in a poisoning scare that prompted
the recall of 95 brands of "cuts and gravy" style dog and cat food.
Scientists had no theories on how aminopterin got into the products of
Menu Foods, which makes pet food for most of North America's top
retailers. Some pets that ate the food suffered kidney failure, and the
company has confirmed the deaths of 15 cats and one dog.

LOS ANGELES: A woman accused of rendering a friend a paraplegic by pulling
her out of a wrecked car "like a rag doll" may not be protected by
California's good Samaritan law, an appellate court ruled. The 2nd
District Court of Appeal wrote in a decision Wednesday that the Good
Samaritan law only protects people from liability if they are
administering emergency medical care. The perceived danger of remaining in
the wrecked car was not "medical," the court ruled.
