Lisbon golden jubilee Darbar
Darbar venue International expo Lisbon, Portugal
Date 13th July 2008.
Deedar is an individual spiritual journey.
Jubilee Darbar is a very important milestone in Imam's life and so in
murids life.
Lisbon Darbar was unique in the way it touched my intellect
I saw Hazar Imam in a totally different mood.
He is meeting the Lisbon jamat after 10 years and after customary
thanks to the government and blessings for everyone he right away
came to the point that
"Jubilee is a time of celebration and happiness"
"Even a child's smile is a blessing and Happiness is a gift from Allah"
He wanted us to wear a big smile all day and rejoice and be happy! Eat
Biryani and Samosa and play Dandiya raas and just be happy!
The concluding message in London sent via Mukhi saheb after leaving
the hall now in Lisbon was an opening message!
Then what was it all about BROCO…LLI?
How many people even understood whether he was recommending eating
broccoli or not?
Or whether he was even trying to do that?
The lady sitting next to me said "I am now onwards going to bring
broccoli for Mehmani at Jamat khana, because I think Mawla likes
broccoli"
I stopped her quickly and said "Oh no, Please don't he is finding it
to be an ugly vegetable he does not like it"
But irrespective of who understood what every single person including
a lot of women who are always crying in the Deedar because of emotions
started laughing and clapping despite strong request by Alvaez not to
clap but say salvat loudly.
But how can you not when Imam was literally pushing us to laugh and clap?
If some one is cracking joke and if you do not respond with a laugh it
will be an insult to the speaker!
And how can you say Salvat when Mawla is saying laugh!!! And be happy!!
He just wanted his jamat to be happy! No matter what! Goal achieved!
He literally had to demonstrate that happiness is a gift
Take it! I am here to give you happiness!
may be we have forgotten to be happy and laugh!
Peers have always said in the Ginans "DEEDAR takes away one's
difficulties (janjal)"(ashaji Parts)
So if that is his promise why be unhappy?
Also I think the pressures of modern life and scantier and scantier
social life has produced sadness and wide spread depression
everywhere.
There is so much depression among professionals and youth. And
everywhere in the world in general!
Our youth has moved away from jamatkhana trying to find happiness in
materialism and drugs and alcohol.
To deny the facts is a big mistake.like ostrich trying to hide his head!
Family ties are getting weaker and sometimes even breaking our elders
are lonely and depressed!
We are becoming more and more individualistic (selfish in correct words)
Imam wants us to come together, establish the bonds , work to gather
Have more celebrations.
I remember when I first came to USA, 20 years ago there used to be so
many Jamat celebrations and involvement that we never felt left out or
lonely!
There used to be New year's eve celebration, Thanks giving, valentine
day, two picnics, two big Dandiya Khushali and frequent other dinners
and get to gathers.
We used to take our kids every where with us because all these
programs were family oriented rather than couple oriented.
And I used to see supervised mingling of kids,
And many when they grew up married in the community, less divorce
rates fewer conflicts
Now everything has changed!
No food is allowed in Jamatkhana (except now for GJ celebrations)
There are constant conflicts among Mukhi kamadias and jamat about food
issues, sometimes ugly!
One ex Mukhi constantly said "there are ruhani khushias; you don't
need food for khushias"!!!!!
Then why is Hazar Imam Saying eat Biryani and Samosa and play Dandiya!
What message is there?
Universally FOOD is always a part of expression of love and happiness
cross culturally! How can we be different?
20 years ago we were amazing!
My children loved going to jamatkhana!
They were happy!!
We were happy!!!
Now there is nothing in jamatkhana for them.
Long announcements are boring!!
Politics and favourism is disturbing and frustrating.
No one listens to the grievances of jamat. Mukhi kamadias are afraid
of Council for fear of no repeat appointments.
The respect and love for leadership is diminishing because injustice
by leadership is obvious.
Any one who tries to fix the problem or help or try to do the right
thing is quickly black listed.
Result?
More and more persons are staying away from jamatkhana.
Jamat khana which used to be a great relaxing place even for singles
and lonely because they could interact with some one and have some
emotional outlet .
It had great therapeutic value!!besides the prayer and it's benifit.
Now are finding pushed out because jamatkhana needs to be closed right away.
Everyone has to rush to work.
Youth across the board is absent in jamatkhana very worrisome!
Where are they?
Big question?
Few young kids who are in jamatkhana are preferentially treated by
Mukhi kamadias which further puts off other youth!!
Mukhi Kamadias feel it is none of their business if they are not
coming to jamatkhana.
It is the loss for them!
What is the solution?
Hazar Imam is demonstrating by actions in his Farman make my jamat happy!!
Make them laugh!!
My jamat is so wonderful and great they are easy to be pleased!!
They did not get broccoli joke yet all of them laughed and clapped!
How cute it is!! How much they love their Mawla!
Let the relaxed atmosphere return once again among the jamat
Let our youth mingle among the community, so we do not deal with youth
depression and substance abuse
To deny it is existing is the biggest mistake!
We will have fewer intercaste marriages and fewer divorces inshaallah!
Let us reduce the red tapes every where.
Let us be able to trust each other and not cheat!brothers and sisters
do not cheat!
Let there be more honesty and broadmindedness and transparency!
Let our leaders communicate all important stuff to jamat also so Mawla
does not have to talk about it in the farman!
It is not for their private use only!
It needs to be shared!
Also share instances which can invoke more love for our Mawla.do not is selfish!
"Love for Imam" is the fundamental requisite for the murid to obtain
full benefit of the faith.
When Mawla is coming after 10 years he must have so much to talk about!!
Instead he is talking about "THE BROCCCOLLLI…"and invoked a laugh!
He wanted us to be happy! He found a great need for that!
It is pretty hard to cry and weep when Mawla is cracking jokes!
Every word and action and gesture of Mawla has meaning to it, nothing
is by the way
It is our duty to understand the exoteric as well as esoteric meaning to it!
In council there are so many boards there should be one board
promoting "happiness"
Happiness Board! Allah's gift! Golden jubilee gift!
Function being to take care of the mental well being of the jamat,
promote happiness give them laughs!!
Aged parents are also very depressed!!Professionals are overworked!
Computers have made them lose their social interacting skills. Result?
Loneliness!
Youth is lonely and confused!
Make them laugh!
It will be the biggest blessing
It will be greatest Farman bardari!
Let us stand up for weak and disabled!
Let us make the old people happy, get the youth in jamatkhana!
Food is a connecting portal! Why hate it? Biryani and Samosa are not bad!
It is a powerful expression of love unity care and generosity, all
being principles of Islam!
When child comes home first thing mom does is gives FOOD!
It is an expression of love and care!
Let there be more Biryani and Samosa and let us have fun with innocent
topics like Broccoli, and not at the expense of individuals!
You can pretty much have fun innocently with simple subjects without
hurting anyone! Let us have more Dandiya raas functions than less!
Our jamat is Mashaallah very generous!
1.4 million Pounds for an esoteric Awal Sufra on the Darbar day in London!
What bigger proof is needed for showing the incredible generosity on
the part of jamat! How much love for the Imam!
Mashaallah let us all come to gather to make our Mawla happier! Let us
not be divided!
Let "jamat's happiness" be a motto from jubilee year onwards
Yaali madad
