Registration of Remote Sql Server 2000

Hello all in here... i have a install sql server 2000 on remote
computer which have a live ip. e.g

50.13.2.2 . i have registered sql server 2000 on it.. now when i want
to registered this live ip sql

server 2000 on client system. it give me error .. some time "Time out
Exception" and some time

" Check your network ";


I have already off fire walls of both system that is client and
remote..

Could you provide the exact error and its details ?

Sorry Man!  I am not an english person ;)

ok let come to the point.

I have a static Live IP where i have installed sql server 2000..

now my problem is that how can i registerd that  sql server 2000 which i have install on live ip adress on my local machine..

some time it give me time out exception. and some time it say check your network resource.

hope this should give u idea..

need more details. First off, whats a Live IP? Does it walk?

secondly, we need an error, or atleast an error code.

the live ip is just an ip adress like yahoo, gmail, google etc like that

which i can acess it .. through ping command

suppose we have a local area network .. and i want to connect to one of the computer which has an ip adress 192.168.0.1 so this ip is only for local area...

so i have buy an live ip adress e.g 204.5.23.1 which i can acess through internet.. so i have install sql server 2000 on it...

when i want to register it. . time out exception occur...

um...no. doesnt help a bit. You cant install anything on an IP. its
just a number. So im guessing you bought a DEDICATED IP. which means
you bought atleast a T1, maybe an E1 if your in Europe (your not)
which in turn means you spent too much money to not know what is going
on.

well we have bought a static live ip address.. and its dedicated  only to me..

i have already install my sql server 2000 on that computer to whom i have assign that static live ip address..

and i have registered my sql  on it with its static  live ip addresss..

the problem i am getting is i am unable to register that sql server on my client pc...

We need information from you on what your doing, what errors you might
get, how the network is set up, etc. before we can help you.

Your the one asking the question, not me.

Check on the machine that has live IP if it accepts the connections to the box. May be the incoming connections to the box are not allowed because the firewall issue or something similar. Check if Remote Connections is enabled on SQL Server.

Check your server's firewall? Or router policies?
What network protocols are enabled on your server? TCP/IP? Did you
specify port #?
Does your server respond to local clients over at your "live IP"
machine?
Honestly... what did you already do? Hard to help you know...
