General Membership Meeting Notes
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008
The 2008 International Festival of Arts & Ideas (June 14-28) – Andria
Matthews, Manager of Community Programs and Ideas and fellow Wooster
Square resident gave a preview of the upcoming festival. As well as
the 2 major community programs underway – the first being the Big Read
and the second is 613 Radical Acts of Prayer.

Aldermanic Report – Bitsie Clark (Alderwoman, Ward 7) mentioned the
work being done by the Community Development Committee on
foreclosures. Also, gave a brief update on the City Budget.
LCI Report - Our Neighborhood Specialist, Leigh Roberts gave an
update. She noted that LCI is also working on providing information
to mortgage holders in response to increase in foreclosures through
The ROOF Project – Real Options | Overcoming Foreclosure.
New CSAPP booklets for Mental Health and Substance abuse are out.
Graffiti removal service – with warmer weather comes and increase in
graffiti. Contact LCI for removal. They usually are able to get out
within 24 hours.
Street Vendors – if there are any issues with street vendors, such as
complaints or license checks, contact LCI.
Advertisement Cards placed on Cars – Town Green is looking into the
issue, as most of these cards end up tossed on the ground.
Civilian Review Board Report - No new cases are being reviewed as
Internal Affairs is currently working on background checks
Fair Street – Wilbur Smith Associates gave an update on the proposal
to open Fair Street. Project is still in the conceptual stage. Costs
and traffic impact have been reviewed. Next step is to present report
to City.

District Safety Update –
Public Safety Committee – Appointment of Doug Hausladen as Chair

Goal is to take a proactive stance on public safety issue. Will also
work to coordinate efforts and improve communication among other
groups and efforts already underway. Such as Elm City Cycling and the
City Wide Petition for Safe Streets: http://www.gopetition.com/online/19519.html
We are looking for anyone interested in joining the sub-committee or

Lt. Tchakirides Update -
Spike in theft from Auto all over the city – GPS is still a big
target. Best way to prevent is by removing all valuables from sight,
and to do so before arrival at destination.
New Captain in Patrol – Robert Lonza replaces Officer Kearney who has
moved to MIS department.
