Happy Greetings Scout Leaders! It’s been awhile since I’ve sent out a message to all of you. I hope your Summer is going well. I’m serving as Del-Mi’s lone representative to the 2009 Silver Beaver Committee. In case you are not aware, the “Silver Beaver” is the highest and most prestigious honor awarded to a volunteer by a local council. Del-Mi has had many deserving volunteers receive this award over the years. Of course, there are many other deserving candidates within Del-MI that will receive it in the future. In order for this to happen, we need you to work with other volunteers within your Pack, Troop, Crew, etc. to take the time and effort to recognize outstanding scouting volunteers you work with. While the nomination forms (located at www.crossroadsbsa.org) and deadline(September 30) remain the same, there is a significant change in the process. Specifically, the selection committee, one representative from each district, will not be made aware of the names of the candidates. A scoring system has been established for the committee members to follow to determine the award winners. The scores will be based on information contained within the nomination form. In past years, a committee member may have been able to “fill in the gaps” verbally if the form did not contain all the candidates info. and history. It is now critical that the time and effort be taken to thoroughly complete the nomination form for the candidate. Also, please do not attach e-mails and separate docs to the nomination form. Only the official nomination form should be submitted. Please contact me if you have any questions. Thanks,
