PLA Conference hears from Cuba's independent library founders

For the time time in an ALA affiliated event, the story of Cuba's
independent libraries was told by the founders themselves, when Berta
Mexidor and Ramon Colas joined the March 28, 2008 Talk Table at the
Public Library Association conference in Minneapolis. Notes of their
commentary are available at the URL below.
Ramón’s concluding remarks included his observation that they were
many young faces in the room, and he predicted when they learn the
truth about Cuba, they will remember this moment. On the other hand,
when those supporting Cuba’s government learn the truth, they will be
ashamed of themselves.
