- Responses to "Other" option:
response 1. Beer available for purchase. Raccoon River Brew Co might
have space but no projector. Tue, 4/29/08 11:09 AM
response 2. speaker panels Thu, 4/24/08 7:48 PM
response 3. Hand out free books (as prizes) Thu, 4/24/08 10:54 AM
response 4. Put materials for ALL presentations on the website after
the presentation. Once people see the quality of what is presented,
and can reference they might have more interest in actually
attending. Thu, 4/24/08 9:16 AM
response 5. Meet during work hours. Wed, 4/23/08 9:16 AM
3. What would make meetings more valuable to you? Do you have a group
discussion you'd like to meet around. Are there particular topics and/
or presenters you would like to see? Let us know.
response 1. The meetings are already valuable to me. Tue, 4/29/08
11:09 AM
response 2. I love reading the threads, but I can't really commute
during the work week to get to the meetings. I am just getting started
in J2EE so I'd like more threads about that too I guess. Sat, 4/26/08
8:10 AM
response 3. I would like to see a presentation on any of the Google
web frameworks, ie GWT, Andriod, App Engine, Gears, etc. Fri, 4/25/08
8:38 AM
response 4. Presentations focussed on career growth On the lines of
best-practices....demonstrations on "how not to do stuff". Common
programming pitfalls etc. Introductory topics on Spring and current
technologies in Enterprise Java. Coding exercises that teach OO
concepts Focus on things that enhance and grow the community...not
sure what these are. Thu, 4/24/08 10:54 AM
response 5. I think it might be good to better understand what things
other people are doing, so that topics can be addressed that are
applicable to more people. While many of the topics are interesting to
hear about I really don't know if many people are using the
technologies discussed. Might be something to draw people in more.
Thu, 4/24/08 9:16 AM
response 6. Swing/desktop, micro (ME), GWT Thu, 4/24/08 5:19 AM
response 7. The most valuable thing about a meeting to me would be the
people that attend -- I would really like the chance to bounce ideas
off of my peers and discuss the experiences others have had with
particular technologies. Wed, 4/23/08 10:37 AM
4. 4. Are you interested in being a meeting speaker, moderator,

Thank you!
---------------- May Meeting Details! --------------
Here is our meeting topic: Tim Andersen answered the call for
volunteers and offered to speak on Maven. He is planning a two part
presentation -- the first part is a "what does using Maven get me" to
answer the bang for the buck question for a project manager or anyone
who may not necessarily be interested in the technical details. The
second part is more of a how-to for someone who has never used maven
before, but is familiar
with Ant. Both parts together will take about an hour, and then we'll
open it up for questions afterwards.
As a reminder, we do have a temporary venue change for our May meeting
(since our regular meeting spot at DMACC is closed that day) - we'll
be downtown this time.
