Tomorrow, on Tuesday the 8th, there will be a club meeting at MCZ 101
(26 Oxford Street at Harvard University) at 7:30pm, preceded by a dinner
at the law school cafeteria (second floor of Harkness Commons) at 6:15.
The speaker of the night will be Prof. Michael Kaspari of the University
of Oklahoma, who will be giving a short talk entitled "You eat what you
are: toward a global nutritional ecology." Here is a description he has
provided of his topic:
"Twenty five or so chemical elements, from Boron to Zinc, are required
to build an organism. The abundance of both elements and organisms vary
in interesting ways as you move from place to place across the planet.
In this talk, I suggest that the answer to the question, "How and why
does the abundance of organisms vary from tundra to tropical
rainforest?" may lie in the mismatch between what the organisms need and
what the ecosystem can provide. Our focus will be on the common soil
invertebrates--ants, springtails, mites, and millipedes--some of the
little things that run the world."
As it is April, it will also be time for elections for next year's
officers. Come and have your voice heard! Also, persons wanting
membership should come and get nominated for it.
Be sure to tell friends, lab groups, and coworkers about our events!
Also, if you believe that you or someone you know is not signed up on
the ent-club announce list, send or have them send their email address
to entclub-anno...@entclub.org
We hope to see you there!
