whats the difference between drop box & the cloud?

The "cloud" it's a more of generic term, and can refer to data storage on the internet or computer processing on the internet done by other companies for you. Drop box is one specific "cloud" storage solution. ( Others include G drive, Skydrive Ubuntu 1, Amazon S3, etc..) Popular cloud computing services include Google compute, amazon ec2, and many more
