Can't do it on the 11th but  please do check in again as I would love to go if I did not already have a prior commitment.

June 3 won't work for me, but April 1 or May 6 might. They meet once a month (except July & August), and I seem to attend about one meeting in three, on average. Maybe by April I can actually have something to demo...

I'm hoping to be at tomorrow's open space night, we can figure out logistics then if that works for y'all.

Bill & I came up with this plan: meet at the Barnes & Noble in Waterbury around noon on Sunday. If that doesn't work for you, we can probably come up with a different plan.

I may or may not go, this weekend is a busy one for me.  Distance wise I might as well go on my own.  My kids are interested robotics especially my daughter and I mentioned it to her and she was interested in going.   How are they about walk ins?

totally fine with walk-ins. very informal group, usually at least one young person there with a parent. attendance varies, but around a dozen people is typical, i'd guess. a lot of pictures & minutes from past meetings on the website, if you haven't checked that out yet.

let me know if you need help with directions (somewhere on the website i saw mention of U. of Hartford, but meetings have actually been at GHAMAS for a while now).

when I put "21 Vernon St. Hartford CT" into Google Maps, it takes me to the right place. I would think 44 into Hartford is the obvious choice from Winsted/Winchester. GHAMAS is right near Trinity College -- in case you've ever been there. (Trinity holds an annual Firefighting Home Robot Contest every April; I finally made it to last year's event, it was fun.)

http://www.trincoll.edu/events/robot/

GHAMAS has a parking lot that opens to Vernon St. As you enter the lot from Vernon St., you will be facing a field, with a building on your right & another on your left. The one on your left is where the CRS meets; there should be signs pointing the way. Unfortunately that lot is occasionally full; I sometimes have to park on the opposite side of the aforementioned field (around the block, off Brownwell Ave.).

I haven't come all the way to downtown Hartford on 44, but you can turn right  on N. Main St., then left on Park St., & you can get on 84 East from there. I take exit 48 for Capitol Ave.; it curves to the right & ends at Capitol Ave. Turn left on Capitol, then right on Washington. Follow Washington for a ways, Vernon St. will be a right turn. Then the parking lot is on the left.

It looks like you could also avoid the highway, just stay on Park until it meets Washington; turn right, then right again on Vernon after a few blocks along Washington.

Hope that's helpful, & hope to see you there. They meet monthly, except for July & August, so if this Sunday doesn't work you'll have another chance.

these meeting minutes say "Traver gave us a Scribbler robot demo": http://www.ctrobots.org/minutes/2006/mar06.html ... that should read Trevor (my son). Here's what he looked like back then: http://www.ctrobots.org/pics/2006/mar06-14.JPG ... I haven't changed, of course, but Trev's a lot bigger now ;-)

Andrew,

Thanks for the directions.  I am afraid I got the day wrong for the CRS,  I thought it was today, but of course it is Sun.  My daughter is pretty interested in going to the CRS meetings and we will do it next meeting that works.   Thanks for the links to the ctrobots, I think it is a great thing to do with kids.  The Scribbler robot looked really interesting but never tried one.

Was reading the minutes and the intro was about going to the MIT flea and museum and that looked like something good to do also.
