Hey all,

sorry for the cross posting... this is to announce some sort of a weird
experiment in the Adobe-space in ANZ :-) Even if one's not deeply
involved with Adobe technologies like ColdFusion or Flash/Flex,
anyone is welcome to join this experiment.

This Friday from 4pm NZ time on, we're having a virtual beer o'clock
via Connect. The idea came up after Kay Smoljak in Perth was
complaining on Twitter about being the only person in her 3-person
home office to actually having had a beer.

So for all people working from home, always missing out when it
comes to beer o'clock, but also freelancers, contractors, bosses,
employees, join if you like.

The room URL is:

For people who've never used Connect before - you basically just need
the Flash Player on your machine. This Connect server is US-based,
so I can't really predict if and how the server is going to cope - but let's
give it a try, some testing I've done was quite promising.

There's no program, just chit-chat, using the webcam, chat to other
people etc. If anyone wants to, people can show some cool stuff
they've been doing during the week via screen sharing but there's
no formal presentation or anything.

As said, I'll open the room around 4 pm NZ time and it will stay
open until late to let our famous foreign Aussie friends join us
whenever it pleases them.

Hope to see many of you,
Kai

it takes a New Zealander** to roll up his sleeves, do the hard yards and show how stuff *should* be done.

well done sir.

(me: hangs head in shame and hopes when next they meet Aussies can beat the Kiwi's at cricket to save *some* face)

Perhaps true, but it took an Aussie complaining about beer to make it happen :)

So what does all that tell us about Aussies and German-born New Zealanders then :)

Actually, considering I am of German extraction, I think it says more
about Germans and beer than anything else :)

it means that, buoyed by the success the New Zealand company Lion
Nathan has with owning Australian icon beer brands like XXXX (Qld's
Fourex), Swan, Emu, Tooheys, West End, Southwark and many more....

... New Zealanders *own* beer'o'clock!

of course ... just a gentle reminder for you Kiwi's not to go down the
path of "Today Australia, tomorrow the world"...
