Hello All,

The BIMBO's added four species today - rumor has it - it was too windy
for the Plums today. They were only able to get one new bird for the
day (although a good one) - Golden-winged Warbler.

(218) Pileated Woodpecker - Milton Trimitsis - Milton
(219) Western Tanager - Marj Rines - Medford
(220) Whip-poor-will - Andrew Birch - Medford
(221) Arctic Tern - Andrew Birch - Revere

You can see the entire list at http://bostonbirds.org/bimbovpi.html

Last night I woke up with nasty heartburn at about 3:00 AM, so I got
up popped a Tums and checked the weather. I could see it was going to
be a MUCH nicer day than initially predicted so I decided why waste an
early awakening! I was in the truck at 4:OO and ready to try for my
first BIMBO Big Day!

17 Hours and 120 species later - I found myself lying down in the
grass at the "90mm Site?" in the Medford section of the fells trying
not too fall asleep. As I lay there the Woodcocks serenading - I
heard my final bird for the day #121 - the Whip-poor-will is back!

BTW - I also thought it funny that my last four birds added to my list
were - Wood Duck, Wood Thrush, Woodcock, Whip-Poor-Will. I assure you
alphabetical order was not my goal. The full list follows - too many
highlights to try to pull out so I will try to blog about the day when
I can keep my eyes open!

Andrew, that total of 121 species is fantastically good for the early date. We always went for a later date (May 19 - 22 roughly) and only ended up with 129 (131?) on our best year. Good job.
