Subject: Black Witch Moth - Oklahoma City, OK
Hi Mike!
I do not have a lot of information regarding the moth. The first one I
saw was last Sat and it was bigger than the size of my hand. When I went
to get the camera, it was not there when I returned. The moth was big
and brilliant, dark with spots on each wing. He seemed to be healthy. I
kept joking with my mother that recently returned from the Amazon about
how she had brought a moth back with her. He was the most amazing insect
that I have ever seen. The 2nd time was this morning when I saw a
smaller version of the same moth. I am assuming this one was the female
after doing some internet research. The female was not alive and was
covered with ants so I could not get an exact size but I would say it
was the size of my hand but almost certain it was not the same moth.
With even the damage you could tell that the moth was smaller than the
first.
The location is Oklahoma City, OK. The weather here is humid and we had
a storm come in from the recent hurricanes.
Hope you enjoy this information.
