NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- The New York City confirmed Thursday
that it has recorded its first death connected with West Nile virus this
year.
Local health department sources were quoted by a report available on
www.ny1.com as saying that the victim was a 65-year-old man from Staten
Island, who died suddenly this month.
The man was reportedly diagnosed with West Nile, but tests are still
being done to define his cause of death.
So far this summer, six people in the five boroughs of New York City
have come down with the virus, which is transmitted by mosquitoes, the
report says.
