AUSTRALIA - LIGHTNING strikes have ignited fires in the roofs of three
Sydney homes with one spreading to bushland in the city's west, the New
South Wales Fire Brigade says.
A fire brigade spokesman said thunderstorms had hit Sydney suburbs,
triggering blazes in the roofs of two homes at Cranebrook, in Sydney's
west, and another at Earlwood, in the inner-west.
The spokesman said units attended the fires and prevented any major
damage to property.
However, one of the fires at a home in Cranebrook had spread to
surrounding bushland and the blaze was threatening property including
the Cranebrook fire station, he said.
The Bureau of Meteorology said storms over Sydney this afternoon had so
far resulted in only patchy rain across the city.
