PARTS of Melbourne's eastern suburbs have been hit by flash floods, with
more storms predicted this afternoon.
The SES has received more than 120 calls for help today, most in the
Knox and Ferntree Gully areas, after heavy rain caused widespread damage
in the region.
"VICSES volunteers were involved in a variety of general rescue work,
including assistance to motorists stranded to flooding in residential
and industrial properties," said VICSES central duty officer Col England.
The Bureau of Meteorology said more strong winds, large hailstones and
flash floods were expected this afternoon in the east and southeast.
Nearly 30mm of rain has fallen this afternoon in some eastern suburbs,
with more storms forecast for Caulfield, Craigieburn, Dandenong,
Frankston, Glen Waverley and Preston.
