SEVERE thunderstorm warnings have been issued for Queensland for the
fifth day in a row with reports already of hail the size of golf balls.

The Bureau of Meteorology this afternoon issued a severe storm warning
for southeast Queensland, as well as southern and central areas of the
state.

The warning said severe thunderstorms were detected near Bundamba
Lagoon, in Ipswich, at about 4.15pm (AEST).

They are forecast to affect Redbank Plains by 4.45pm (AEST) and
Archerfield by 5.15pm (AEST).

Damaging winds and large hailstones were likely.

Separate severe thunderstorms were projected to bring damaging winds and
large hailstones over the next several hours further west to Roma,
Emerald, Clermont, Cunnamulla, St George, Blackwater, Bollon, Mitchell,
Taroom, Tambo, Rolleston and Springsure, the warning said.

It said golf-ball-sized hail was reported to have fallen 60km north of
Alpha, in the state's central west, at 3.30pm (AEST) today.

It is the fifth day in a row severe storms have wreaked havoc in the
region, bringing down powerlines and damaging homes.

Twenty-two homes in Jandowae, west of Brisbane, were damaged today, with
15 partially losing their roofs and three homes completely losing them.
