Laos confirms second bird flu death*

LAOS has reported its second confirmed human death from bird flu, a
woman from Vientiane province who died on March 4.

“Results from a World Health Organisation Reference Laboratory in Tokyo
have confirmed the second human case of avian influenza H5N1 in the Lao
People's Democratic Republic,” the Laos health ministry said.

Laos on March 8 announced a 15-year-old girl had been confirmed as the
country's first human death from the virus.
