A MAN has opened fire from his balcony just outside Rome, wounding five
people.

The wounded include a doctor who was seriously injured while trying to
tend to the others, according to Italy's ANSA news agency.

Four of the wounded were branded "code green" by hospital authorities,
meaning they were not seriously hurt, it said.

Details remained unclear, but ANSA reported the man set fire to petrol
on his balcony then opened fire intermittently, hitting passers-by in
the area of Settecamini below.
