A magnitude-4.8 quake struck before dawn yesterday in the small desert
town of Bombay Beach.

A magnitude-4.2 earthquake struck near Ojai on Friday afternoon.

The quake, which had a depth of 4.1 miles, struck at 1:27 p.m.

The epicenter (map) was located 4 miles east from Ojai, 12 miles
north-northwest from San Buenaventura and 18 miles north from Oxnard.

About 40 miles away in Santa Barbara, firefighters are working to
contain a wildfire that has forced the evacuation of roughly 30,000 people.
