WELLINGTON, New Zealand (AP) -- A magnitude 6.5 earthquake shook the sea
floor in the South Pacific on Tuesday, but there was no tsunami warning,
officials said.
The quake struck about 110 miles southwest of Macauley Island, which is
located in New Zealand's uninhabited Kermadec Islands, said the New
Zealand geological agency, GNS Science.
The islands are about 500 miles northeast of Auckland, New Zealand's
biggest city.
GNS Science said the quake may have been felt in New Zealand's North
Island, but there were no immediate reports of damage.
