THE past week has seen the highest number of suicide attacks in Iraq
since the March 2003 US-led invasion, with half of them targeting
security forces, a coalition spokesman said.
“In terms of attacks, this week's suicide attacks were at the highest
level of any given week, with half of them targeting security forces,”
Major General Caldwell said in a briefing.
He added that 50 per cent of the car bombs in the past week were suicide
attacks.
Since the start of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan this week, there has
been a rise in attacks and scores have died in clashes and explosions.
