A CRANE driver fell to his death and a woman was crushed by a tree today
as a violent storm struck Austria's capital.
The crane worker died at the fire brigade building in Vienna despite
being warned of the approach of the storm, which had gusts of around
140km/h, police and rescuers said.
The woman was killed, also in Vienna, when a tree fell on her as she
walked along the Danube.
Air traffic from Vienna was suspended for an hour and flight delays were
recorded throughout the afternoon.
The storm also brought disappointment for Barbara Streisand fans after
organisers had to put off her first-ever concert in Austria. They hope
to hold the event if possible tomorrow.
