Hurricane Isaac eyes Canadian coast*
MIAMI, Sept 30 (AFP) Sep 30, 2006
Isaac became the Atlantic season's fifth hurricane on Saturday, the US
National Hurricane Center said.
At 1500 GMT, the storm's eye was located about 600 kilometers (370
miles) east-southeast of Bermuda, the center said.
With maximum sustained winds near 120 kilometers (75 miles) per hour,
"Isaac is moving toward the northwest near 11 kilometers (seven miles)
per hour, and this general motion is forecast to continue with a gradual
turn toward the north-northwest expected by Sunday.
"On the forecast track, Isaac should pass well to the east of Bermuda,"
forecasters added.
But the center cautioned that "interests in Nova Scotia and
Newfoundland, Canada should monitor the progress of Isaac."
