Australian Catholic Priest sexually abused boys, court told*

October 10, 2007 12:45pm
Article from: AAP

A CATHOLIC priest sexually abused a number of teenagers at a boy's home
in southern Sydney in the late 1980s, a court was told today.

Father Paul Evans was dorm master at Boys' Town Catholic boarding school
at Engadine at the time the alleged incidents occurred.

During committal proceedings at Sydney's Downing Centre Local Court
today, Magistrate Robyn Denes was told Mr Evans molested the boys in the
dormitory and during weekend fishing trips.

The court was told two 2004 interviews with the alleged victims had been
conducted and taped by private investigator Michael Eccleston, who was
employed by the Catholic church.

The court was told Mr Evans faced similar charges in 1988 which were
dismissed.

The committal hearing continues.
