Fire destroys Philadelphia church*

PHILADELPHIA, April 30 (Reuters) - A fire destroyed a Philadelphia
church on Tuesday as 175 firefighters struggled for almost two hours to
bring it under control, a fire department spokesman said.

Black smoke billowed over a large part of north Philadelphia where
residents around the Prince of Peace Baptist Church were evacuated.

The blaze was fueled by the wooden interior of the church, a former
public school, the spokesman said. The cause is under investigation.
