FIERCE FLOODS caused by torrential rains have killed seven people and
partially damaged roads in eastern Algeria over the past two days,
officials said.
Two corpses were found yesterday following heavy rains in Setif
province, some 300km east of the capital Algiers, they said today.
Two brothers aged eight and nine years were swept away by a river in
spate when they were walking home from school on Sunday in Batna region,
about 430km east of Algiers.
Three other people died as floods swept away their cars in the same
province on Friday, the officials said.
