The Defense ministry of India said Friday that it has successfully
tested a short-range version of its most powerful nuclear-capable
missile Friday.
The Agni-I missile soared into the sky over the Bay of Bengal from
Wheeler's Island off India's east coast.
The Agni-I missile, which can travel up to 700 kilometers (435 miles),
soared into the sky over the Bay of Bengal from Wheeler's Island off
India's east coast.
The test was "successful and the desired objectives have been met," the
defense ministry said in a statement.
This is the fourth time the same missile has been tested to fine-tune
its use and improve its maneuverability, said a defense official, who
spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak
to the media.
