We had about 3-5 people getting on VOIP, iirc. New member from Santa Rosa, Kirk locally, A guy from the python community from iirc an #python irc announcement in Denmark, someone from #asterisk in the USA?. all iirc. The asterisk guy helped others get their voip going, & the SRosa guy had just taken a unix class, i think he might be a college student. he helped people get their voip working. Someone had a mac, was trying zopier. Someone was compiling some voip client for BSD?

Someone commented in IRC about how interesting it is talking to people from around earth.

All & all a great meeting.

So, this is just a short summary. I've been super busy lately, & am running late to replying to messages here, and making this summary. i probably won't have time to make a more detailed summary.

I did get enough time to get announcements out 5 days in advance, not just 1. (of course, i totally missed the announ cements for the first meeting in december!) but, at least for this meeting announcements got out in time.

I spent most of the meeting at home, on irc, helping others get up on voip, & making some irc announcements, because noone had indicated they were coming to the local berk in person meeting. So, i never got on voip. that's ok, cause others did.

i did get to campus, dl'd all 4 ubuntu 910 distro cd's. i re-met the lady who is the new CSUA president - met here originally at the SuperHappyDevHouse in Oakland about 6-12 months ago. Met & talked to the new csua events coordinator, talked about coordinating a joint btip csua meeting with a special speaker sometime in spring semester. Spent several hours with KUbuntu specialist on irc trying to figure why my laptop was not apparently going to do the 904 to 910 upgrade properly - I might just do a fresh install.

BTIP-global list briefly got up to 100 members, but then i went through & banned some spammers, & we're back down to 92. About 10 of those have mail delivery turned off. Interestingly, about 3-4 from one the SHDH meeting in Oakland I made a btip announcemt at. That strikes me as strange. But, we do have one, iirc, shdh person on the list.

I saved some stats & images from google analytics for the website. If I can get some time I'll make a summary with pretty dots on the maps & show them to yuo all - of where the website hits come from. Really intersting.

Cheers :)
