Kirk - if you're reading this list - what wifi were you using at the last btip meeting? What's the wifi ic manufacturer/brand?

List members - I already checked this list's members, & didn't see any listing for kirk. I think we have several members who aren't on this mailing list yet.

I'm asking this cause kirk's laptop was, i think, getting a better connection to the AirBears AP than I was, & I suspect it might be due to better wifi hw.

Also, anyone: Do you have a recommendation for a pcmcia wifi card that you personally know works well with currently available drivers?

Thanks :)

Actually, i'm hoping to merely fiind a good piece of off the shelf from Fry's hw. A good, inexpensive, works well w/ linux hw.

I'm too tired right now to fid the link: what's that linux wifi website, with all the hw listings - maybe 100's of products, & their drivers? linuxwifi.org comes up a blank page for me. That website used to have way too much info. I just want a link with the maybe 5 best linux wifi solutions available widely from retailiers, such as frys. :)

I've heard different eeepc models have very different hardware...
although you'd expect all of them to at least work with linux due to
having Xandros preinstalled. This page might be good by the way:

Yep, thanks. :)

It's long been on my todo list to email them & tell them i think they should _definitely_ add 2 or 3 top 5 or 10 lists to that page:
top/best recommended pcmcia, usb wifi cards, & maybe AP's.

It should also go here:
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users
http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Devices

Because these lists are too long to be useful to people searching for a quick "best" top 5-10 list - which is what would be helpful to the largest group of people interested in wifi for their hw.
