Hey guys, so I have a friend who's competing for a scholarship for her MBA
at UCLA this fall, and part of the judging for this scholarship is getting a
lot of hits for her YouTube video about the subject...she's a bit behind the
curve as she started a little later, so I figured some of the folks here
would have good strategies on how to get a lot of views for stuff like
this...

Can you email me directly with information on what she should do to get a
lot of views; no need to reply to the list? It's for a good cause so any
help is greatly appreciated; thanks so much! :)

Subject: Brandie and Tea...

Hello All!

As some of you know, I've recently accepted into the Anderson School of
Management at UCLA and will begin my MBA this fall. As a creative way to
help fund this adventure, I've has submitted this video for a scholarship
competition about tea.

Part of the judging process is based on popularity! So please take a
look (or numerous looks!) and pass it along to everyone!! :)

Much thanks!

Here's a blog post I wrote about the spread of a video from my sketch comedy group.  There's maybe some useful ideas in it for you.

Short answer: socialize on YouTube.

Subscribe to people who you think might subscriber to you or whose
viewers might subscribe to you. Leave comments in those places.

Do a decent profile.

Post regularly -- you need to develop a following, and a lot of hits
come from people who surf the new uploads.

Rodney, wow, that’s just about the most perfect response I could’ve hoped for!

Thanks so much for sending over the info, and good luck with your work—Spanish for your Nanny is hilarious http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRdKiz-jA7E , and the Who’s on First short http://socalfilm.com/films/whos_on_first.html is AWESOME too!

Glad it's helpful!

Thanks for the positive response, that video has gotten us some attention.  We're finishing up a series of sketches for a cell phone video distributor and starting to work on some ads for some web retailers, which has all resulted from the Nanny video.  More stuff should be coming soon!
