Legal case against God thrown out

Nebraska State Senator Ernie Chambers filed the lawsuit last year seeking a permanent injunction against God who he said made terrorist threats against him and his Omaha constituents.

Additionally, he said God inspired fear and caused "widespread death, destruction and terrorisation of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants".

The US politician said his case was over the fact that everyone should have access to the courts regardless of whether they have money or not.

However, Douglas County District Court Judge Marlon Polk ruled that under state law a plaintiff must have access to the defendant for a lawsuit to move forward - and this would be rather tricky under the circumstances.

Judge Polk said: "Given that this court finds that there can never be service effectuated on the named defendant this action will be dismissed with prejudice."

But Senator Chambers, a law school graduate, thinks he's found a hole in the judge's ruling.

He said: "The court itself acknowledges the existence of God. A consequence of that acknowledgement is a recognition of God's omniscience.

"Since God knows everything, God has notice of this lawsuit."

Senator Chambers, who has served a record 38 years in the Nebraska Legislature, has 30 days to decide whether to appeal.

I read about this and thought it might be a joke, like from The Onion or something. But no, it's real.

I cannot possibly be the only person who thinks both the concept and
execution of this site are eye-stabbingly hilarious:

Yeah, and the funniest part is it's totally random. A random quote, a
random cartoon. And yet so far I haven't seen one that doesn't work.

Voice from Nevada aka hell;  Anything God does is intrepreted by man so the almighty has nothing to do with it.

Well, I'm a very religious person, though in my case it's a Goddess.
I know you're not. But ya know, better safe than sorry lol

No, no, seriously. Treat it as a hypothetical. You have an omnipotent
intelligence which has seen everything, done everything, knows
everything. How could you possibly piss off, insult, or belittle such a
being? Okay, maybe Yahweh is pretty easily insulted -- the Jewish bible
actually states that he's "jealous." I just don't see how that's even
possible.

I mean, I'm an ordinary man, not a universally aware superconciousness,
and there are lots of things that used to bother me that now just make
me go "Meh. I guess this is SUPPOSED to bother me."

If an ant could give you the finger, and you noticed, would you even care?

In my religion, through violence, ignorance and treating people badly.

Heard on the radio that Billy Joel and Elton John are going back on tour again. They are seeing the country in the RV together. Trivia question which one actually divorced Chrisite Brinkley? And isn't it a coincidence that fellow Long Islander Alec Baldwin was not happy with Kim Basinger? Geez life is rough near those nuke reactors.

I'm pretty darn sure Elton John never had a relationship with
Christie. And as far as Alec and Kim, well, Alec's nuts and I've
heard things about Kim being rather hard to get along with, to put it
kindly. And in the meantime, we all watch Regis slowly losing it.

The court threw the case out merely because they were unable to secure
a valid residential address for God. Frankly, it is atypical of
Americans to take God, Santa Claus and the Tooth-fairy to court.
