On Aug.16 & 17 Carvalho Winery in Clarksburg at the Old Sugar Mill is again having their Portuguese Festa  http://www.carvalhowines.com/
We went last year.  They have wine tasting, goodies to buy (Portuguese sweet bread last year) and a great, affordable, Portuguese food lunch. The food and wine tasting was indoors and the entertainment was outside.  Last year, they  had Ramana Vierra singing.  It was a really nice, low key,  afternoon.

We are planning on going this year probably on Saturday but Sunday is OK, too, as far as I know.  So if any of you listmembers decide to go, maybe we can meet/greet.

Clarksburg is outside of Sacramento in northern California.  Many Portuguese lived along the river there and some still do.  It is a festival and not a Holy Ghost Festa.  I went on Sunday last year and it seemed that most of the Portuguese events took place on Saturday.  I don't know if it will be different this year.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming "WOW, WHAT A RIDE!"

Michael Abreu, who did the http://home.earthlink.net/~abreu3/Festas....etc did NOT update the site for 2008.  I contacted him earlier this year and he said he was unable to do it this year.  So if you've seen the Rio Vista festa the first Sunday of every August, then that would be a safe bet, but I'd try to contact someone associated with the hall to confirm.  I think most of the contact info on Michael Abreu's page would be correct.
