I need Christian opinions on this

I have had several debates with Christians regarding how long a "day"
is in the bible. The problem with this is that opinion is divided by
members of the same denomination. Some cling to the young earth theory
and others have a different opinion on it.

The bible is pretty tricky about it's wording ( surprise, surprise)

The carving of the Grand Canyon is controlled by the flow of water
that erodes the rocks. I only meant control in the sense that natural
events (including humans) are controlled by explicit and sometimes
hidden natural events and not some kind of "personal agency," "free

I disagree: statistical analyses typically come with loads of
pre-suppositions, both explicit and implicit. And atheistic
faux-statistical analyses are frequently even worse ...
I'm typically more interested in examining the pre-suppositions behind
why such methods are thought to be "valid" or "credible".

Depends what you mean by "is", that is to say "exists". Existence can
mean:

1) What physically exists.
2) What is conceived of.
3) What could possibly be conceived of.

The underlying truth of which you speak always exists under meaning
