Yes, please read the Pages (click on the link to your right), and

what gets discussed often, and the issues that are debated.

No, we never go anywhere on this website. Previous attempts at
booking a cruise to have failed due to internal dissent on where to go.

Observer
I am a non believer and completely against Christian superstitious
filth.
You are obviously undereducated in relation to what unbelievers are
and are not . The only thing we have in common is a general respect
for critical thinking as applied to scientific method and a complete
lack of belief in any god or gods. We have no commanders and no
hierarchy .
If you wish to assert that the christian god is a reality then please
give us scientifically verifiable substantiating data. We will analyze
it and get back to you.
As for Christians, there is one who is reasonably solvent,
intellectually.
Though I have grave concerns about his claims of a personal
relationship whit the mythological Christ.
His handle is oldman for a religious nut case he is at least an honest
and intelligent man.
Welcome to the debate , I certainly hope that you do better than your
brethren.

Hi,
Here's the low-down bro.

The atheists don't have a commander. We have a prince. Prince Timmy

see if it's already been shreded by the other side. They've seen

They don't have commanders. Although most of them have similar
doctrine and dogmas about their atheist religion (yep, the US Supreme
Court says it's a religion, otherwise the law will not protect them),
the stalwarts are Simpleton, Lois (aka LL), Mike from Texas, Stephen

All the christians and you are now included since you mention

Just another falsehood manufactured by, who else, an AvC Christian.
Nope, it was a real case. In Torcaso v. Watkins (1961), the US Supreme
Court wrote that "those religions based on a belief in the existence
of God as against those religions founded on different beliefs"
Military draft cases of the 1960s broadened the view of religion to
include non-traditional belief systems. The Court held in 1965 that a
person did not have to believe in a Supreme Being, a theistic belief,
to claim conscientious objector status to military service.
To Simpleton: What is a Yezidi? And don't worry. I will stay.
To Bojo: You need all the help you can get? Who is winning the war?
Neither the word "atheism", nor the phrase "otherwise the law will not
protect them" or anything remotely resembling either appears in the
above. Not to mention that atheism is a lack of belief, not a belief.
Like I said, just another falsehood manufactured by, who else, an AvC
Christian. But thank you very much for illustrating my claim so
clearly Liam, I really appreciate it.

anything, it's very clear.
There was this "Article 37 of the Declaration of Rights of the
Maryland Constitution", which provides:
"No religious test ought ever to be required as a qualification for
any office of profit or trust in this State, other than a declaration
of belief in the existence of God . . . ."
The appellant Torcaso, an atheist, was appointed to the office of
Notary Public by the Governor of Maryland but was refused a commission
to serve because he would not declare his belief in God, based on the
bove provision of Article 37. He then brought this action in a
Maryland Circuit Court to compel issuance of his commission, charging
that the State's requirement that he declare this belief violated "the
First and Fourteenth Amendments to the Constitution of the United

You did not have to go through any more trouble, Liam. You already
showed what I said about your falsehood in your last post.
But thank you anyway, I appreciate the efforts you have put in.
On your first post, you asked the question, "And does anyone go to
Calvary Chapel on this website?"
Due to my curiousity, I used Google and found Pastor Ken's Calvary
Chapel. It's only a lucky guess that somehow you are associated with
that church.
I'm a poker player and sometimes I scare myself when I use the "poker
player's instinct" and the result is true.
And what falsehood was that? That you cannot accept the truth?
The atheist sued and used:
1. Constitutional Amendment 1, which is about the "Establishment
Clause", the unlawful establishment of religion.
2. Constitutional Amendment 14, which is all about the equal
"Protection of the Law."
BTW, the atheist won.
Oh I am sorry, it is now several levels deep. This one by you:
"Although most of them have similar doctrine and dogmas about their
atheist religion (yep, the US Supreme Court says it's a religion,
otherwise the law will not protect them)"
You're welcome.
Yes, there can be theist religions and there can be atheist religions.
Torcaso, however, didn't show that he belonged to an atheist religion;
all he showed was that he was an atheist.
Now, did the Judge who rebuffed the judgment of the Maryland Court of
Appeals indicate that Torcaso obviously belonged to an atheist
religion? No; the judge made two contrasts. The first contrasted
people with religion and people who believed in no religion. The
second contrasted people of theistic religions and people of atheistic
religions. The judge said the state ...
1) Neither can constitutionally pass laws or impose requirements which
aid all religions as against non-believers ...,
2) and neither can aid those religions based on a belief in the
existence of God as against those religions founded on different
beliefs."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torcaso_v._Watkins
The judge's verbiage, viz. the categories contrasted in (1), gives
ample scope for Torcaso to belong to no religion.

Good, so you now know the falsehood you propagated.
To summarize the truth:
Atheism is a lack of belief in god(s). Some religions are or may be
atheistic, but the USSC case you cited does not say that atheism is a
religion, or conclude that "it's a religion otherwise the law will not
protect them".
Realization is your first step, Liam.
Again, you're welcome, but I should be thanking you for your able
assistance in illustrating what I said about your claim.
YYYEEEESSSS, finally from an American atheist.

Yes, he showed that he was an atheist.

YES!
So, the judge mentions three groups - (1) people of theistic
religions, (2) people of atheistic religions and (3) people of no
religion. So, why do you disingenously insinuate that the Judge pegged
everyone who didn't belong to category 1 as belonging to categofy 2?
Still you cannot accept the truth. See ranjit's post, he understood
the law, you didn't and never will because you cannot accept the
truth.

Atheism is a doctrine. Atheists have beliefs
"Atheism is a doctrine that states that nothing exists but natural
phenomena (matter), that thought is a property or function of matter,
and that death irreversibly and totally terminates individual organic
units. This definition means that there are no forces, phenomena, or
entities which exist outside of or apart from physical nature, or
which transcend nature, or are "super" natural, nor can there be.
Humankind is on its own."
"The following definition of Atheism was given to the Supreme Court of
the United States in the case of Murray v. Curlett, 374 U.S. 203, 83
S. Ct. 1560, 10 L.Ed.2d (MD, 1963), to remove reverential Bible
reading and oral unison recitation of the Lord's Prayer in the public
schools."
"Your petitioners are Atheists and they define their beliefs as
follows."
If you like to be a good American atheist, here read more about them:
http://www.atheists.org/Atheism/
> Realization is your first step, Liam.
See ranjit__mathews' post. He understood the Case. He's an American
atheist. All you need is to accept the truth because the truth will
set you free.
I don't know about American atheists; it is in India that it is common
to have the notion that there can be astika (theist) and nastika (non-
theist) religions.
I did not peg anyone belonging to any category. I was just telling
Simpleton that there is 1, 2 and 3 and that's that.

LL: Old Man is the Christian of stature. He's the best one to talk to
about Christian topics.
There are no athesit "commanders" since most atheists don't think in
terms of hierarchy. The best non-believer on the site is Rappoccio, a
physicist with a Ph.D. He doesn't call himself an atheist but an
agnostic, but that's pretty much the same thing, in my opinion. He
gives the best arguments for the rational/scientific approach to life.
There are a few other atheists/agnostics that are very good a
presenting their views and arguing their points.
There are also a few theists who are terrible debaters. Many who can
think of nothing more to do than to throw a bomb and run. They seem to
think this is debating.

Theism is not a religion, either. If you think either atheism or
theism are religions, please explain what their doctrines are beyond a
lack of belief in a god and a belief in a god or gods.

Are there no Indians in Washington?
There are. :-)
Yep, then I clarified it with the numerous message exhanges that we
had.
You're welcome.
You seemed to claim the Court called atheism a religion:
"the US Supreme Court says it's a religion"
... and you seemed to claim that it's because atheism is a religion
that the law protects atheists:
"otherwise the law will not protect them"
I don't seem to see any context where you acknowledge group 3.
On Group 3, I have to study the case again. They seem to belong to the
Humanist group who also petitioned the Supreme Court for something.
If you know, let us know because I don't know yet, but what do I know.
Well, all you had to do was that you were wrong when you said "the US
Supreme Court says it's a religion, otherwise the law will not protect
them", which you finally..... wait a friggin' yom, you still have not
done it!
The only thing that you have clarified therefore, is that you stand
behind your original statement of falsehood and now are claming to
have clarified it.
I shall now leave you in the hole you have dug yourself, Liam. This
one's mighty impressive for the sheer pace with which you managed to
get that deep.
Take care.

So this is what you do is it? Come onto an unfamiliar message board

Oh, so you *were* indeed hoping to convert people with your loving
Declaration of War? That conjures up images of conversion by the

I recalled incorrectly, and for that I offer you my unreserved
apologies.

Any signs of opposition or any signs of decency.
Does this mean that I should ignore the God(s) that once existed
throughout history and when did God(s) become evil?" - La femme

He tried to but it turned out to be "slam bam; no thank you sir;
you're stuck with me."
LOL. More like 5 hours from declaration to surrender.
Strategic redeployment. Not surrender.

I still don't get how I became Christian based on these questions. I
can see how the second question might make you wonder but it was not
associated with a direct belief in actual God(s) but rather in the
direction that men once believed themselves to be God(s) therefore how
can you simply say that although Gods have been repeatly refered to
throughout history that they don't exist. That would mean that Zeus
who may or may not have been once a living individual and is
represented by the name God does not exist and never existed. On top
of that you said that Gods are evil, in my mind that is saying that
Zeus was Evil. We can't even verify that he existed yet you've already
marked him off as being evil, I still find the subject rather
confusing but that does not mean I believe in a God or Gods it means
i'm interested in the historical aspect of the literature. Does that
clarify things?

You need to invest a bit more time in understanding what evolution
is. Evolution does not say that we came from monkeys, but that we
came from a common ancestor as the monkeys. As far as I can tell,
only people who are opposed to evolution make the claim that you did
about the relationship between humans and monkeys.

1. Don't ever argue and/or apologize to Dev. It's like a death sentence.

"Pissed" or honest?
"Pissed" or bored with moronic christians?
"Pissed" or pissed at these christians trying to run my life and my
country?
"Pissed" or fed up with hypocritical christiians?
Take your pick. :-)
Yep, war is the only way christians can solve their problems.
I know of no US Supreme Court decision that says Atheism is a
religion.
I know you didn't make the claim, but I sincerely doubt the person
that did make the claim can back it up with a direct quote from the
decision.
That's a good little boy.... leave before you make a fool of yourself.
You won't be making any extra points with your little god here.
Actually, it seems we understand it better than you do. We are smart
enough, and honest enough, to understand that this "spiritualism" is a
bunch of crap. As for gods..... you'd be better off without them.
He's utterly failed to do so, but refuses to admit his mistake; is
short he's being a tad dishonest. To say the least.

He's not that bad. He's just intense. I have to give him shit though.
Karma says so.

Man is too ancient for that. It is gods who originated from from
bulls, monkeys, etc.

So, if CCC beats it, you'll know where he's gone:-)

Apparently we do. You have an addiction and you need help. We are the
ones that can help you. Just ask.

I don't give a shit about your dad either.

You can be sure that atheists will never listen to anything
irrational. But that's all we get from theists.
