Subject: Possibly relocating to St. Augy in Spring
Good afternoon Brethren,

My name is Pete Ruggieri and I'm a Past Master of Lamberton Lodge No.
476 in Lancaster, PA. The recent economic woes have hit me hard and
I'm looking to relocate to St. Augustine in the Spring.

Like many Americans I'm dealing with the drama of bankruptcy and
foreclosure and I'm looking to make a fresh start somewhere new (and
sunny). Anyway, I have no exact timeframe of when I'm moving but as it
gets closer I may need some square brotherly advice about
neighborhoods, places of employment, etc. I see lots of listings on
staugustine.craigslist.org but have no idea if an apartment in
question is good, scary, etc.

I'm 39, not married, no kids so I'd be looking for an affordable
rental. I have a degree in Safety Engineering and have worked in sales
most of my life... but I'd probably be looking for a bartending job as
I've done that for 15 years part-time.

Thanks again for your time,

S.K. Peter J. Ruggieri 32', PM

Hello Pete!

My name is Ira and I have been planning to become a member since moving here
3 years ago. My wife passed away last September leaving me to raise our
"gifted" 14 year old daughter. I live in Jacksonville, Bartram Springs area
having just moved last month.
I work in Palm Coast as a Financial Analyst. I do not know of St Augustine
apartments too well but there is a rental community near the outlet shops
that are very nice and affordable but also small (1000 sf) and they were
just not for us.

It would be wonderful if we could become friends. I am alone and have been
looking for female companionship which has been a tough road. I am Jewish
and meeting a Jewish woman around here is not too easy. I have not sought
male friends over all since I do not drink or smoke and guys tend to to
those things.

I will be happy to help in any way I can. I also would very much like to
join a Lodge and maybe you can help me with that!

Hey Ira, thanks for the note. I'll definitely stay in touch with you.

As far as becoming a mason - it is easy, just track one down from the local
lodge and ask to join. That is about it, and they get the ball rolling from
there. In PA the process takes about 4-5 months. Your petition is read at a
meeting, a committee of 3 master masons is assigned to visit you and report
back on your fitness to be made a mason (basically just making sure you
believe in a higher power and you aren't a super-criminal). Next meeting
they report the committee's findings and they put it to a vote. If the vote
is YES (always is unless you have something sinister going on) you would get
your 3 degrees the next 3 months.

I don't smoke but I run a drinking club and I bartend. Ha. But that is
"work" outside of work I'm pretty mundane and looking for a more relaxed
existence near the beach with my dogs.

You need a member of that lodge to sign for you. As a PA mason I can't help much unless I joined them as well. Most likely I would just be a visitor.

Easter-ish I think.

the Church's negative judgment in regard to Masonic association remains
unchanged since their principles have always been considered irreconcilable
with the doctrine of the Church and therefore membership in them remains
forbidden. The faithful who enrol in Masonic associations are in a state of
grave sin and may not receive Holy Communion."
