Smallpipes

Ask and... I told my husband what I wanted for my birthday, and he
said to order it - a set of smallpipes. They're pretty much miniatures
of the Scottish Highland pipes I already play, and are said to be
great fun. But that's not entirely why I want them. I have musician
friends who wold love to incorporate the pipes with their guitars and
bodhrans and things, but the highland pipes are a bit hard to get to
blend in. They do not tune quite to concert pitch, and they are loud.
THe smallpipes, on the other hand, are tuned to A or D, sometimes B
flat, and can blend in. The set I chose is adaptable and can be played
either in A or D with a few changes. The only warning is that the D
adaptation - a smaller chanter (the part that looks like a recorder)
can be difficult for a player with large fingers, which I am not. And
I have switching from flute to piccolo in my background, so I think I
will manage quite nicely.

Since this whole pipes thing was Papa's idea, this is not just another
toy - it's a tool to expand the possibilities. He loves it when I
play! And so, apparently, do others. Now they'll be able to enjoy the
experience without losing their hearing when I play indoors, lol! I am
very excited, can you tell?
