Welcome to Week #2 of our newsletter! We hope you enjoyed the first
issue and that you'll feel free to contact me for items you'd like
shared with the group.

MEET & GREET

This Sunday, April 23, is Easter. Some of us who will not be spending
the day with family will be at a M&G at PetSense in the Round Rock
Outlet Mall from 1:00-3:00 pm. We need folks to come out and "talk
greyhound" to the hordes who want to pet and ask questions about these
beautiful athletes. You can station yourself inside the store,
outside the store or you can stroll the mall with business cards. If
you're not doing anything else, come on out! (Coordinator:
jennife...@gmail.com)

WELLS BRANCH SPRING FESTIVAL

AGA's been invited to participate for the second year in a row in the
Wells Branch Elementary School Carnival on Saturday, April 29. The
event will run from 2:00-6:00 pm. AGA will have a booth to sell our
ever-favorite puppets and rattle rocks to the kids and to "talk
greyhound". The kids love the dogs, and it's a great opportunity to
plant a seed with the younger generation about greyhounds as pets.
Volunteers should contact Bobbie Wier at racer...@sbcglobal.net to
let her know in what area you'll be able to work. We need helpers to
set up the tent & booth at noon, helpers to take down the booth at
6:00, and folks in between to sell items and walk around with dogs.
This is a full day and more than a handful of volunteers can do
easily. Please consider joining us for this large fundraiser.

MEDICAL REPORT

Ryan's most recent medical update reports that "Smoke is doing well.
He really wants to be free,
running and having a ball with the rest of the dogs. As far as he's
concerned, he's fully healed. He still has a little ways to go, but
he's going to be fine." Continued best wishes to Smoke and thanks to
the Bardens for their care.

CONDOLENCES

Belle Wier, 11 years young, left this earth last Tuesday to begin her
forever journey. Belle was a beautiful Border Collie mix who was born
with extremely strong herding instincts. She was often seen herding 6
confused greyhounds around the yard. Each had to keep in perfect
formation or Belle would herd them back into the pack. Belle was
rescued as a pup from the back of a pickup truck on the way to the
pound. Her absolute favorite thing to do was to lie in front of the
dog door. Whether it be inside or out, she flexed her mighty muscles
and kept all the greyhounds from going where they wanted to go. In or
out they had to stay until she got bored with the game. She was met
at the bridge by her longtime friend Dakota (the Wier's first
greyhound), Dewey, Corkey, Reagan, River Shell, Asti, the beloved Trey
and Bullett.

PLACEMENT

Max aka Game Boy was placed in the home of the Ready family last
Tuesday. Maisy, the dachsund, was very curious to discover what this
very tall creature was and before the night was over there were kisses
all around. The Ready family will make great parents!

MORE UPCOMING EVENTS

Don't forget the Meet & Greet on Sunday, March 30, at the Great
Outdoors Nursery on South Congress from 1:00-3:00 pm. This is a great
time of year to visit a nursery - especially this beautiful one!
