I was looking to sell my Android dev phone, since i am incapable of
updating it. If the person who buys the phone has T-mobile, will he/
she get the g1 updates that T-mobile send out.

Android Dev Phones do not get automatic updates. A buyer would be able
to update it manually.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with the update process.
Which part is causing you trouble?

I couldn't update my phone either; Windows Vista command prompt didn't
work on the flashboot program. It's been weeks since I tried. Quite
frankly, with all the steps involved, I was worried I'd mess my phone
up, and I need it for work.

I read on another thread that an easier method for updating was being
looked into. What's the update on that? Can we ever get a one-step
update process?

At this point I'd rather keep chugging along with the phone working
reliably than risk bricking it for new features I might not ever use.

HTC released a set of additional images a few weeks ago that can be
used without fastboot or adb, which should make life much easier under
Windows.

Is that the recovery image, signed-dream_devphone-img-142608?

Does the radio image have to be updated as well? Or is that included?

And if this is idiot-proof, where can I post pictures and a
simpleton's step by step on how to do the upgrade? Cause if I can
figure it out, anyone should be able to.

You need to update the radio and the system separately.

You want to grab the signed-dream_devphone-ota-142608.zip package in
addition to the radio (notice the 'ota' part in the name).

The instructions for both are the same:

-copy as "update.zip" on the SD card.
-boot while pressing the home key (~15 seconds)
-alt-L to display the console
-alt-S to update from the SD card
(and there might be more instructions on-screen when flashing the radio).
