Trash in Barrels: a rule or a request

I would like to pose this question to all our representatives that read these Postings:
I have spoken with the Inspectional Services people when they are in my neighborhood checking the rat situation. I asked about why people who don't put their trash in barrels aren't being ticketed. The response I recieved was that their is no "law" or "ordinance" that requires residents to do so. They are only required to use bags. This is troubling to me because I have a severe rat issue at my house. They are living under my porches. We obey all the rules and Inspectional services is often at my house. The rats live at my house and eat 50 to 75 feet from there where the residents of that building put their trash out on the ground. My questions are as follows: How do we go about getting an ordinance in effect to help with the rat problem? (why would they leave if we feed them) Will we(residents) be required to use barrels now that they have been provided to us? Can we purchase more of the black barrels from the

There are several times in which I have "rescued" car drivers who were stuck in
the situation you're talking about on Kenrick Street. The drivers were stopped
in the middle of the street (usually in both directions), with turkeys pecking
at their bumpers or front tires.

All it takes is for a pedestrian to walk up towards them with arms outstretched

There's one that comes down our street sometimes (Trapelo - between Glenmont
and Rogers Park) and I saw one riding my bike through the seminary last
week. We've seen flocks of them for years in the Brookline neighborhood
behind the Waterworks development on our walks.

Rosie's right - this is a funny conversation to have right before

I've seen them too, just where Mike Pahre suggests. They have actually stood in the middle of the
street and tried to attack my car by pecking at the bumper.
When a turkey peers at you from the driver's side window it's a bit unnerving since they look
totally unreal and are almost at eye level with you.

Does anyone know what, if anything, was resolved at this meeting? I'd love to know more about the landlord notification process - too often I find out there has been an issue well after the fact. Problem tenants are like puppies - bad behavior needs to be addressed right away or they forget what it was that they are in trouble for...
