Dear Neighbor,
As many of you know, in response to many neighborhood concerns, the Boston Redevelopment Authority has pushed back the deadline for submitting comments about Harvard's Institutional Master Plans to May at the earliest. Harvard Task Force meetings have also been postponed until April.
The Allston Brighton Community Planning Initiative would like to take advantage of this extra time for comment by offering a facilitated workshop on Harvard's Institutional Master Plan documents. This workshop will analyze Harvard's institutional master plans with respect to suggested planning standards for Allston Brighton.

What's in the Workshop?
This "Planning 101" workshop will provide an overview of
- planning terms and standards of good planning
- the Boston Redevelopment Authority's planning process
- where Harvard is with respect to the BRA's process
The workshop will examine the planning goals for North Allston Brighton, which are documented in the North Allston Neighborhood Strategic Plan, in the areas of housing, transportation, urban design, open space, economic development, and infrastructure. How the planning goals in these areas are addressed in Harvard's Institutional Master Plan will also be examined.
This workshop will be facilitated by planning consultant Larry Koff and urban designer Larry Bluestone.
Although many people have made excellent comments on the IMP, especially in comparison to the North Allston Neighborhood Strategic Plan, we hope this workshop will be helpful to the many other residents who are still unsure about how an Article 80 process unfolds, what to look for in IMPs and DPIRs, and how to insert their voices into the process.
