Hi, I just bought my daughter Bloodrayne for PC, and found out that we
need to get a new graphics video card that supports T & L DirectX8 in
order for it to work. (I downloaded the DirectX8) We currently have
Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller. Here is my question, I am pretty
computer literate when it comes to installing my own hard drive,
memory, cd/dvd drive, etc, but this is out of my realm. How much am I
looking at price wise for this? And where is a good place to get it,
and a good make? (Bloodrayne supports Radeon and GeForce series. )Also,
do I need to replace the Intel or do I add to it? Thanks in advance for
any advice!

Unfortunately graphics cards aren't really my realm either. (Hardware
in general actually) But I have been in this exact situation with
Bloodrayne 2. (btw, did you get bloodrayne 1 or 2?) Bloodrayne 2 looks
really good with Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT. 6600 is $100-$200 or so on
Froogle but thats personalized for my city so you might find a better
deal on yours. Oh and btw, be careful with that game because the
controls are so weird if you play it for too long it could lead to some
serious cubital tunnel syndrome. I wasn't sure what the weird bloodless
feeling in my left hand was for about 3 weeks.

It's Bloodrayne 1. I was hoping to get by with $50 or under.

Oh. Well I don't think 6600 would be needed for the first one. Take a
look at the 6100 or any of the others in the 6 series.
http://www.nvidia.com/page/geforce6.html I don't know much about ATI (I
need to study up on graphics >.>) so I can't help you there. The 6100
ranged anywhere from $51 to 1500 on froogle. (I think the one in the
1000s was a fluke) Also, not to promote piracy or anything but if you
first download the game to make sure it works on your hardware you can
avoid these "downtimes." (I *hate* it when I have a new shiny game but
can't play it...just sitting there...taunting me.) It also helps avoid
buying games you don't want...since the return policy for games is so
incredibly non-existent.
