iPhone and iPad apps
We are getting together a list of useful apps in AV. What apps have you found to be useful in providing AV support? For example, I use AudioTools for its SPL meter and Utilities for its signal generator. I also use Dropbox for file storage and retrieval, F5 for VPN into secure networks, and even Flashlight and Ruler. The Camera function is always useful to take a snaps in the classroom and to see if an IR emitter is working.... more »

Securing HDMI connectors in Crestron DM boxes.
The HDMI connector isn't reliable on it's own for professional installations, but we're stuck with it. Products like Extron's "Lockit", the BlueEcho "hd EZ Lock" , and Planet Waves "HDMI Locking Clip" all rely on a particular type of panel connector with a screw above it. The Crestron DM TX & RMC boxes don't have that screw. If you're using these Crestron products and you've mounted an RMC above the ceiling, what have you done about securing the connections?... more »

There may be work involved. Cheers, all; -c Chris Bellerjeau, CTS Director - Multimedia Services... more »

HDMI for classrooms...
Here's my design question of the day... I'm just about ready to take the plunge into doing digital enhancements for classrooms. That's how I'm going to pitch it, anyway. In reality I want to switch to all-digital signals to the projector, but I still have to provide a VGA input for a laptop 'cause that's what people are expecting.... more »
