Let's Go Plant A Tree!!

Calling All R.E. Kids, Parents and Fellow Tree Huggers (& Planters)!!
We're looking for many hands to help make light work of planting a tree the R.E. classes are donating to the Anchorage Museum of Natural History [201 North Bragaw (across the street from the old Brewsters Store) 274-2400]. We've chosen a small-ish purple crab apple tree, so it won't take long for us to dig an appropriate sized hole and put it in it's new home. We have the tree and some shovels-- all we need is YOU!! This will be an on-going project as we work towards building bridges to communities within our city-- the R.E. classes will visit the tree seasonally to rake, water or pick apples- so let's get it off to a good start! We're meeting at the Museum on Sat., Aug. 9th at noon. Come and dig in the dirt outside the museum, then see how many fossils you can dig up inside!

 Greetings,
We had several volunteers at the State Fair last year in the Planned
Parenthood Booth. Many volunteers are needed this year also. It is
really good to have this booth occupied by volunteers and give the
community a Liberal voice on birth control, sex education, choice,
etc. Please let me know if you can help or are interested. There

 Dear AUUF Members & Friends,
Below is a message from Gini Courter, the UUA Moderator whom many of you had the opportunity to meet when she came to visit our Fellowship last year. As Gini notes, we will be dedicating a portion of our service tomorrow in memory of those lost in the Knoxville tragedy, and all those affected by the senseless violence.

A big thank you to Ruth Greenwood and Ron Devon for a heart felt service honoring the losses and suffering of the UU's in Knoxville Tennessee. We felt more connected than ever to the wider UU community hearing Ron recite the words of Bill Sinkford our UU President.
Ruth's sensitive words of love and healing were exactly what we needed to hear to help make any sense of this tragedy.

Anyone have UU musician Jason Shelton's cd?

 Hello, all,
I'm trying to track down a copy of UU musician Jason Shelton's cd called "The Fire of Commitment," which includes the song "Standing on the Side of Love." This song is quickly becoming something of a "UU anthem," and is a beautiful, life-affirming song about the power of love.
If I can find a copy, I'm thinking of using it towards the end of the Candlelight Vigil tomorrow (Wed.) evening. It's not necessarily something that we could easily sing "cold," nor would our pianist have enough time to learn it properly, so the best option is to have a recording of it. Unfortunately, because the recording label is a small one, they don't have the capacity to offer a mp3 to download, at least not that I've found.
