Hey All,

Now that the gas tank is gone, I'm wondering what various solutions have emerged
to prevent weather and debris from entering the fuel bay through that hole. Thanks
for any advice.

In the EA kit they had you drill a big hole in the wheel well to duct out the exhaust fan from the mid battery box. I pushed the duct through the existing hole in the fuel bay, rather than drill a new one. If you don't like that (or have lithium which don't have an exhaust), I would think one of those plastic caplugs that EA uses for plugging the old heater ducts would also work well here.

I did the same.   http://porsche914e.blogspot.com/2011/11/battery-box-vent-and-windshield-washer.html

Not pretty, but I'll clean it up later if necessary.

It's not bad ... no one sees under the car, and it's a LOT prettier than drilling an unnecessary hole in the wheel well. I didn't even need to tie it down; friction holds it in. Plus as you point out, it allows you to still use the washer fluid tank.

That sounds like a ready-made if you are using the EA lead battery kit. Wonder why EA
didn't think of it if two of you knuckleheads thought of it independently! Also wonder why
EA didn't think to plug that hole if they weren't going to use it.

I'll be using lithium, so I'll need to locate those caplugs you mention. I think I will leave the
heater duct holes under the dash open for ventilation, because I am mounting the charger
in the fuel bay. Worst case is I cut a piece of aluminum plate and seal and rivet it in place.

You can see the hole under the rack in this pic:
