FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thompson to Chair Hearing on Terror Plot

January 7, 2010 (WASHINGTON) – On Wednesday, January 27th, Rep. Bennie G. Thompson, Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security, will hold a hearing on the December 25 terror plot.  The full committee hearing, entitled “Flight 253: Learning Lessons from an Averted Tragedy,” will occur at 10am in 311 Cannon House Office building.  A witness list will follow.

Chairman Thompson released the following statement noticing the hearing:

“The Administration’s review of Christmas Day terror plot is still underway.  This hearing will give us a unique opportunity to provide the public with insight on this event and the security failures that led to what the President has appropriately labeled a systemic failure. Our Homeland Security resources must come together to ensure that an incident like this does not occur again.”
