Odd results for most popular artists by tags

Hi,

We've noticed recently that we're getting some odd results from this call:

http://api.7digital.com/1.2/artist/bytag/top?tags=pop&oauth_consumer_key=KEY_HERE&country=GB

The artists returned aren't really associated with being the most popular pop artists! Similar story for other tags (indie, dance etc...)

Is this a bug, or has the way popularity is being calculated changed?

Hi Filip,

For example, an API call to get the top artists returns the list which is in the top artist section of your website:
http://www.7digital.com/chart/artist

A few days ago, this list was populated by artists such as Olly Murs and Daft Punk (UK based), but now it seems to have changed radically.

Ah, the chart endpoint works slightly differently than popular artists by tag. The chart changes weekly and is based on last weeks sales so there might be quite a big difference between one week and another. 

But looking at the artists on this week's chart it certainly looks incorrect - we'll be investigating further to identify the cause and resolve.

We're noticing odd results on the chart again this week. For example, we're seeing bands like '!!!(chk chk chk)'  in the top 20.

You're right the chart is incorrect and we're already investigating the issue. I'll let you know when resolved.
