I just need to vent. Last night my wife and I went to do the laundry,
and I washed my summer cycling clothes--winter gear is in the closet
of course. We finish, I swear I put them on our cart, and we roll
home.
I go to hang the cycling clothes to dry--which were in a mesh bag--and
the bag isn't there. We look everywhere, it's just not in the house.... more »

Tomorrow's ride, meeting at Cunningham Park at 8:00 AM, is on.
However, in view of predicted temps in the mid-90s, high humidity, and
a Heat Advisory Warning until 6:00 PM, Dennis Griffin and I will
shorten the ride to 50 mi. On the way back, the ride will end at the

I have been doing that exact route for 40 years (Myrtle & Clinton to 188th & Union)...and added the Huntington part when I moved from Cunningham Park's vicinity to Huntington about 15 years ago. Is anyone doing this ride? Ok, so Joan and I are planning to do the 50 mile pre-ride on Sat and 75 miles on Sunday. A third friend was supposed to make campsite reservations for us, but never did and all camp grounds within 30 miles are BOOKED! I'm interested in joining the ride to Eaton's Neck on Saturday but I
don't want to drive or take the subway over to Cunningham Park.
Does anyone know of any bicycle friendly routes from the Clinton Hill
area in Brooklyn over to Cunningham.

Cunningham Park MTB trails: Any plans for a5BBC group ride?

You all should know there are trails in Manhattan in Highbridge park. I have never done them but the NYC parks site has a trail map A MTB series should include both parks (not the same day) Equipment question: to get started what beside knobby tires (40s?) on my hybrid (front suspension MTB) do I need? I have a "road" helmet and orange lens sunglasses for trail/dusk/overcast riding. I understand the more difficult MTB trails require full body armor but am hoping I can acquire basic MTB-specific skills without first buying all that gear... more »

Fix wheels - please recommend a bike shop

Hi everybody,
I had my rear wheel rebuilt last winter and recently I started
breaking spokes. If you think I gained weight, you would be wrong,
looks like that wheel needs maintenance. I was in one bike shop, but
the guys that replaced spoke did not really care about my wheel and
did not mention that one side's is loose as I found out later on.... more »

Cunningham Park MTB trails: Any plans for a 5BBC group ride?

I was wondering if the club ever does a group ride on mountain bike
trails, specifically the Cunningham Park trails.
The ones at Cunningham have courses literally anyone could do, even on
a hybrid, as well as a small jump park for people who are into
technical mountain biking and BMX.
