This is John Seraphin. I worked in the travel pay section with Anita Kuhr. from Aug 66 till Feb 69. When I arrived Dexter Atkinson was my boss. Then I took over and Ralph Garner joined us. We called him slow man. Toward the end of my tour Jim Blair, an accountant from New England was added to our little family. We missed a lot of the daytime group dynamic, by being locked away by ourselves, next to the front office and across from the toilette. Anyway, I transferred to DC in 1976, as a Navy civilian and married a local in 82. We moved to a small horse "farm" in Leesburg Va, where I live today. I commuted 46 miles one way to US Customs Hq.in DC where I was an HR manager. I transferred to Homeland security after 9-11, got divorced and retired in 2005. I have 2 boys who live in the area.
Jake Cantwell and I were college roommates and have been lifelong friends. I just figured out how to review the pictures Jake posted and it was a great stroll down memory lane and I remember a few names not posted with their pictures. There is one of friend and Ogle, an almost bald guy, with a missing tooth or a very wide space. His name is Wood. He was a buck sergeant transferred from Korea. He had a fairly new VW which we totaled when we rolled over and took out the bus stop shelter in downtown Ktown, in front of the St Paulie cafe? There were 4 or 5 of us, drunk as skunks, coming from happy hour at the Panzer Kaserne club, headed for Vogelweh. Wood got a bad gash in his upper lip and the rest of us were uninjured. We got away and he said he was alone. wow ! any of you along for that ride? "Massey and friends" the one seated is Dick Incravati, one of my roomies. He had a thing about his feet so he had hand made boots and he would literally sleep all weekend except chow time. Alfoldy, friend and Garner in Staff Sgt Bill Lowrey, who lived with Percy Doohan who dated Ingred, who worked as a waitress across from their apartment building. I remember her as Inga, and I seem to remember Jake tried to get friendly with her minor daughter. The two black guys in one shot are Lonnie Cooney who was placed in my room after our T shirt meetings and forced integration, post MLC. His friend is Stanley Beale. Time to get on to other things. best wishes john
I remember you John, especially after looking at the pictures. I also
remember the name Anita Kuhr but cannot place her. Ralph Gardner and
I were roommates and I attended his wedding in Michigan City, IN in
April/75. Then lost touch until early this year when we connected on
FaceBook. He now lives in Burlington, WN, is married and has two
grown daughters. By chance I had telephone contact w/Jim Blair twenty
years or so ago. He was the CFO of Dry-Vit a Commercial Materials
Company out of Boston. No contact since. I've several photos I need
to get around and post on this site. I remember Ogle, whom I always
called 'Cole' but cannot remember why. Wonder if he is still around?
I travel to D.C. every March for a Congressional Conference organized
by the National League of Cities. Maybe next year we could meet up.
I was trying to remember Vogelweh (thanks for the memory boot) and all
I could come up with was Focker Rendell (the bus stop I believe).
John Massey is another name I was trying to remember. Think he came
back to MSU after service? Off to give a significant type speech this
evening in Downtown Lansing along with Lansing's Mayor who is running
for Governor of Michigan. Great to hear from you. Stay well and long
live the memories.....Prost!

Hi Tom: My smoking and drinking days are long behind me. I'm dealing with the residuals as matters now effecting my health. Going in for another chest x-ray later this week. Gettin old's a bitch, but retirement is sweet. Wish I felt a little better and doing something about it is my number one job now.

John/Tom, We need to get Gardner on this site. He's good for a lot of
memories. Who else is floating around out there? Anyone been in
contact w/David Matherly? I travelled a lot w/him. He was probably
the King of cameras which we all had but he was the master. He should
have a whole bunch of flicks? Is Ogle still walking the face of the
planet? I remember Anita's name but cannot place the face. Ole
Ursula I do. She was pretty much into herself as I recall and
whomever the Captain was, cannot recall his name. I've got some stuff
I'm gonna try to load on the site like my Panzer Mess card, and my
rifle assignment card, both signed by 'the First Lady'. We need to
work on a reunion, around a major sporting event would be neat. And
count your blessings as I had triple heart by-pass surgery last
summer. Fixed the plumbing and now I'm motoring around EL in grand
shape. Stay in touch. Prost!

I contacted Johnny Ogle in the early 70's. He was in a sour mood so we did not talk much. He called me one time and asked if he could come to Wisconsin to visit and to "cool off." He might have been in some trouble! I was rooming in an apartment at the UW-Oshkosh at the time and had no room for him. Have not been able to find him since. I have looked for Dave Matherly but not results.
I plan to start a 45th facebook page when I get settled into out new digs in Madison.
You can send photos to me and I will post then on the site. Or you can host them on Flickr and I can download then to the site. I am on only one with permission to change the photo album we have now.
