There's a lot of different ways you can setup Palm Calendar - I just
haven't heard too much noise on this. I like it, so I use it! :)

How David sets his up:

Right now, my calendar categories are setup basically like how
pdaaddict has hers:

Since I have Datebk5, I want to make the most out of it. (I love the
saved views*.) So, do you have any suggestions on how YOU would setup
the categories there? I haven't seen too much written on this, but
maybe I'm looking in the wrong place (or 43F has too many archives). :P

Thanks!

* Saved Views allow you to limit what calendar/tasks categories show
up, and other cool stuff. So I have one setup for work, school, home,
and out-and-about.

I tie my Palm to Outlook. I have separate calendar and task
categories. For example, my task categories are all next action
categories, like @calls, etc.

But my calendar categories are different. I call them +Hard (meaning
hard landscape item, appointment, deadline, etc.); +Info (info about
something that's not 100% important to me, like when somebody I need to
email will be back from vacation); +X, where X is my spouse's name -
separates out my stuff from spouse's important appointments; +Birthdays
(obviously, peoples birthdays); +ToDo (this one I keep for those tasks
that have to be done on a certain day); and finally one called
+Important. It's kind of a duplicate category, but some of my +Hard
items are really +Important and I can't afford to miss them.

It doesn't sound that exciting, but where I benefit is in the colour
schemes. I have a different colour for each category, like red for
+Important. So, when I look at my calendar, either in Palm or Outlook,
I can get the relative importance of things just by looking at the
colour. For example, red and dark blue items pop out as the +Important
and +Hard things. Turquoise are things that I have +ToDo. +Green is
birthdays and holidays and only need to be scanned once in a while.
Grey is for +Info only. I also leave quite a few things unfiled (white
by default), so I have basically two levels of information items, grey
being least important.

Hope this gives you some ideas!

Thanks! That definitely gives me some ideas.

I'm not liking the category system I've got setup right now in my
calendar, and I "digg" the context-sensitive selection I have in my
Task categories. So, I think I can redo my calendar categories with a
hybrid system. Off the top of my head:

@Home
@Office
@School
Task@Home
Task@Office
Task@School
Task@Call
Task@Computer
Task@Anywhere
+Birthday/Anniv
+Info-Home
+Info-Office
+Info-School

After I remove my calendar items around into their new categories, I
can redo the Saved Views to my liking.

Any other thoughts?
